About FCF

Who we are:

Fundy Community Foundation (FCF) is a locally run public foundation that builds and manages endowment funds to support charitable activities in Charlotte County, New Brunswick.

FCF is a registered charity in both Canada and the United States and can give charitable receipts suitable for income tax purposes to both Canadian and U.S. donors.

FCF is governed by a group of volunteer directors of community-minded people throughout Charlotte County. Directors are appointed by a Recruitment Committee made up of appointees from each of the five municipal councils.

What we do:

FCF carries out three main activites:

1. Endowment Building and Donor Service: FCF pools charitable gifts of many donors to create a permenent, income earning endowment funds - a nest egg that will always be there to benefit the communities of Charlotte County. FCF also provides one-on-one donor services, finding ways for donors to meet their philanthropic objectives in their community. Whether a donor wants to establish a scholarship fund, or provide funding for children to engage in sports activities, or provide long term support for a museum or library, or any other cause, FCF can find a way to set up an endowment fund which will suit the donor.

2. Grantmaking. FCF uses the income earned by invested funds to give grants to a wide range of community groups. Donor directed funds generate income to meet the philanthropic objectives of the donors. FCF's community funds fuel its annual grantmaking program where projects of all sorts are funded under the direction of the foundation's volunteer Board of Directors.

3. Community Services: FCF provides services and support to the many non-profit groups and organizations that serve the communities of Charlotte County. FCF hosts grant-making workshops, assists groups in developing fund-raising strategies, works with volunteer boards in strategic planning, and helps develop collaborative initiatives so that groups can make efficient use of community resources. FCF also hosts the occasional community dialogue, providing a safe forum for exhange of ideas around important community issues, and offering facilities to develop community-based solutions to these issues.

Part of a national network

FCF is also a member of Community Foundations of Canada, an independent, national organization providing services and support to Canadian community foundations.

There are over 150 Canadian community foundations and the number is growing. In 2006, total grants made by community foundations in Canada to support local charitable causes was over $137 million, and the combined assets of these foundations was over $2.7 billion.

New Brunswick is served by six community foundations.
